For the Centre for Energy Studies in Libya E-Connection erected in 2004 a 50 meter high meteorological measuring tower on the Mediterranean coast near the town of Zuara.

The tower is equipped with sensors for measuring wind data and solar data. The continuous measurements are collected in a data-logger. Thus the data can be studied and used for research of the wind and solar resources.

The objective of this research is to investigate the possibilities of alternative, renewable energy. Although Libya has ample oil and gas reserves under the Sahara sands, Libya needs alternative energy sources for the more remote areas in the Sahara desert. Libya is also aware of the need to find alternative sources of energy that will in time replace the fossil fuels.

E-Connection erected very high meteo towers at five sites in Armenia and on Aruba (Dutch Antilles) too.
