Wind energy

E-Connection participates in wind energy since 1986. We have developed and commissioned the first private and commercial wind farms in The Netherlands. In 1989 E-Connection realized its first wind farm. Since 1986 wind farm projects of more than 250 MW were commissioned.
For our own projects and for third parties we undertake wind resource analysis and calculate expected energy yield, secure permits and land agreements, manage the contracting and construction and execute daily management of wind farms.

E-Connection undertakes wind resource analysis and energy yield calculations for simple projects as well as complex wind farm configurations in complex terrain. In 1999 we prepared for the Dutch enterprise for energy and environment (NOVEM) the validated wind resource chart of The Netherlands. In 2000 E-Connection drafted a wind resource chart for Armenia based on our own wind resource measuring system and network.
Based on long term wind data E-Connection executed detailed analysis of the wind resource and calculated the expected energy yield of the 120 MW Offshore wind farm Q7-WP and the 100 MW Near Shore Windpark.

Before starting construction on site, permits and exemptions from various authorities must be secured. E‑Connection has extensive experience in securing construction and environmental permits and permits within the framework of the protection of wildlife and endangered species and permits of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.

E-Connection can arrange project finance, do the engineering, procurement and commissioning and execute the daily operation of a wind farm. For the investment and exploitation a legal structure will be determined to make optimal use of tax facilities for investments and operational support schemes.  For the project financing we will secure government support (based on a feed-in type of support scheme), wind turbine selection, procurement and the construction, installation and operational contracts. We can undertake the construction management and the Take Over inspections.
Wind farms at ten different sites spread over The Netherlands are continuously 24/7 monitored and controlled by E‑Connection's operators. For safety reasons those wind turbines not equipped with automatic lightning or icing detection, are shut down when lightning or icing occurs. The wind farms managed by E-Connection have an availability and energy output that is significantly higher than the average.
